day o' fun

Saturday, my hubs and i went on a hot date to Charlottesville. First stop Covesville antique where we are the proud owners of a lovely shutter and old ladder--now I just wish we would have gotten more, they are looking good in every room! My plan is to drape fabric over the dowels--will let you know how it turns out and as far as the shutter we might use it to cover the breaker box (which is conveniently located on our bedroom wall (party foul)).

Lunch was spent at Greenwood Grocery, the best sandwich- The Landrance..yum yum! Also, we may or may not have gone to the Flat and had some crepes, Nutella and strawberries to be exact. Next coffee was in order from Shenandoah Joes then ANTHRO! for pulls for the island. On the way home we made a pit stop at Thai Siam's in Colleen, best fresh spring rolls.

The hubs got the pulls attached, but to our disappointment one of them broke :( not happy given they were $18 a piece. So hopefully in the next few weeks we can make it back to return it. Although we were disappointed, we are soo in love with Anthro--want everything in their home section specifically:

There were some awesome milk glasses, but I am having a hard time finding them. But I want 'em!

Another dreary day off and where are Foster and I ? Watching Dexter on the couch---its hard for us to be productive when it's so rainy. I always feel so guilty relaxing when I should be doing something productive.. but unfortunately that doesn't motivate me.

Reflections of January

January was filled with late Christmas dinners, birthdays, work, sleep, church, painting the island, rearranging and redecorating, Christmas tree goodbyes, traveling to Richmond, and the Bachelor.

The productivity of January: I got some sewing done, not as much as I did in December, but I have noticed with each new project my skill is improving. We got the island my dad built and painted it...multiple times. We wanted something dark blue with green hues. Well initially the color we chose was Valspar La Fonda Turquoise (I should have known with a name like La Fonda..just kidding) and it ended up looking like we ransacked a house out of Key West and stole a kitchen island or in other words that Jimmy Buffet threw up in our kitchen. Either way after three coats we did not like it, so Chris got Lowe's to add some black which has improved it some, the island is still a bit bright but, it is much better than it was.
Also, we got the house de-Christmased and redecorated and rearranged some of the furniture.
Work, Work, Work! We have been pretty busy at the hospital the past three weeks which means a decent paycheck, always a good thing.

January Reads:

Our community group started reading His Needs, Her Needs which we have found to be pretty good so far, we are learning the importance of each other's needs and what it takes to meet them. Additionally, since the start of the year I have been trying to read a new devotional every day, Jesus Calling, by Sarah Young, which has proved to be quite good. I can't forget Real Simple, Country Living, and BHG!

January Jams:

Paperweight by Joshua Radin and Schuyler Fisk
A Little Bit Stronger by Sara Evans
Let Him Fly by Patty Griffin and the Dixie Chicks
Smoke A Little Smoke by Eric Church
Speak Now CD by Taylor Swift

I am looking forward to seeing what February has in store, well not the cold weather.

The Sewing Sabbatical

It has been a little over three weeks since I have last sewed.. not really an intentional thing, but a girl has gotta work. Its called finally getting hours, crazy I know, I couldn't believe it either. The few days I have off between shifts I have been catching up on sleep, housework, and our budget. Also, we celebrated Chris's birthday last weekend (1/22) by going to Isabella's and Logans as well as antiquing and seeing Justin Moore on Saturday night and finishing it all off with ice cream and coffee after church on Sunday night. While antiquing in downtown Lynchburg we found an awesome find, a 1948 Singer Sewing Machine..for..wait for it..$5.25 ! We are hoping to place it on one of the shelves on my new sewing table Chris is fixin to build for me. The latest item I made is an Ipad case. I have been getting many orders and I am hoping to get to them done very soon. I can't believe it is February, time flies.
